12th International Session for Directors of National Olympic Academies

02 / 10 / 2014

The International Olympic Academy continues its educational activities for another year, starting with the 12th International Session for Directors of National Olympic Academies which will be held from 12 May to 19 May 2013.
The main theme that has been chosen is "The Olympic legacy: The Olympic Games and their educational challenges". National Olympic Academies, of which there are now 145 around the world, will again liaise with the IOA in order to improve their education, present their work and exchange ideas and views.
105 delegates of National Olympic Academies and 11 lecturers from 82 countries worldwide, will take part in the Session. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday, 13 May at 5 p.m., with the President of the IOA, Mr Isidoros Kouvelos' introductory address.
In 2013, a post-Olympic year, the Olympic legacy was chosen as the main theme of all Sessions, initiating the concept of having a different main theme each year for the Sessions.
The next Session will be the 53rd International Session for Young Participants, which will be held between 11 and 25 June 2013. The IOA will also organise the 10th International Session for Educators and Officials of Higher Institutes of Physical Education from 21 until 28 July 2013 and the 20th International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students from 1 to 29 September 2013.
The IOA, as part of its new strategy for expanding its activities and promoting collaborations with the international educational community, is continuing its successful cooperation with foreign universities, such as Georgetown, Yale, Harvard and Panteion University.
At the same time, the 4th Master's Degree Programme on Olympic Studies organized by the University of Peloponnese in cooperation with the International Olympic Academy, is already running at the IOA premises, with the participation of 30 students from 24 different countries.
