During his speech at the 13th IOC Congress in Copenhagen, the President of the IOA, Mr. Isidoros KOUVELOS, unveiled the new policy of the IOA, which aims at national and international innovative actions with social, economic, political and cultural aspects.

Mr KOUVELOS particularly stressed the following points:

1. The immediate commencement of the International Master’s Program on Olympic Studies, Olympic Education and Organization and Management of Olympic Events, which is being held for the first time in Ancient Olympia by the IOA with the generous sponsorship of the “Latsis’ Foundation”.
“The Master’s Program is instrumental in the international establishment of the Academy, always with the co-operation of the International Olympic Committee, the National Olympic Academies and the National Olympic Committees”, the IOA President underlined.

2. The contribution and the support of the IOA-via submission of various proposals-to the institution of the Youth Olympic Games, an institution that the President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr. Jacques ROGGE first envisaged and realized.

3. The main goal of the new administration of the IOA, which is the non-stop operation of the Academy-in co-operation with the Hellenic Olympic Committee-during the whole year, with the ambition to establish the IOA as an open space of education for all the Olympic Education institutions worldwide.

4. The objective of the Academy for a wider use of the IOA premises by accommodating all the sports’ institutions of the Olympic Family. With this purpose, the Hellenic Olympic Committee has reduced by 40% the accommodation and boarding fees in the premises in Ancient Olympia, providing the opportunity to more people related to sports and Olympism to live in a place of significant historic value.
