Faced with the ancient and modern history of the Olympic Movement and the history of the International Olympic Academy are officially today (Friday) the 210 New Participants from around the world, hosted on-site of Ancient Olympia, the 50th International Meeting of the Fourth . OA, processes which will be completed in 28 months.

The special theme this session is "The Olympic Games as a platform for action for peace" and has never ceased to preoccupy not only the pioneers of the modern Olympic Movement, but also gave rise to the ancient Greeks to "invent" the sacred institution ceasefire during the Olympic Games.
An institution that modern societies and trying to support and implement them during the commission of the modern Olympic Games, through the efforts of the IOC in cooperation with the United Nations.

So this year, DO the 50th International Meeting on Youth Participants provide the opportunity to negotiate this ancient idea of peace and above all gives them the opportunity to understand that all of us, we share responsibility for its management.

On 18.00afou wreaths preceded the column of Pierre de COUBERTIN, reviver of the modern Olympic Games and the monument of John Ketseas and Carl DIEM, initiator of the establishment of the International Olympic Academy, the President of the IOA and ETHN.O.A., General Secretary of D.E.M.A. and board member of the International Olympic Truce Foundation, and the Commission for Culture and Olympic Education ILO, Mr. Isidore KOUVELOS sent a salutation to the officials and guests, effectively declaring the opening ceremony of the 50th International Session of the IOA Youth participants.
Speeches were also sent to the prefect of Ilia, Charalambos KAFYRAS and the mayor of Ancient Olympia, Georgios AIDONIS.

First speaker in the process of the 50th International Session of the IOA will be tomorrow (Saturday 19 / 6) Professor of International Law at Panteion University of Athens, Stelios PERRAKIS, entitled "The Olympic Movement tool for World Peace."
