The effort to ensure the world peace is a one-way street for the thinking young people of today’s society.  In order to achieve this goal they need to be activated towards this direction by the sports and the Olympic Movement in cooperation with the United Nations.

This is the assumption after the conclusion of the works of the 50th International Session for Young Participants that was organized this year, like every year, successfully by the International Olympic Academy in its premises in Ancient Olympia. The main subject of the Session was “Olympism” and the special subject was “The Olympic Movement as a platform for peace”.

In his closing address, the IOA President, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, underlined the maturity and the perceptiveness of the participants and the lecturers when they dealt with the important subject of the Olympic Movement’s contribution to the promotion of the world peace; the main subject of the Session.

The 173 young participants from the 93 countries who participated in the Session with the financial aid of the International Olympic Committee, when they were leaving Greece they expressed their deep satisfaction for the role and the function of the IOA and their enthusiasm for the natural beauty of our country and its history.  They emphasized on Greece’s contribution to the notion of Olympism.

Following the cancellation of two other IOA sessions, the International Post-Graduate Seminar and the Educator’s Session, due to the economic crisis in Greece, the International Olympic Academy, with this session, completed its works for the first six months of 2010.
