IOA – The conclusions of the 9th International Session for Educators and Officials The works of the 9th International Session for Educators and Officials of Higher Institutes of Physical Education, which was organized again this year by the International Olympic Academy, were concluded on Tuesday (7/6) at the premises of Ancient Olympia. The general conclusion of the session was that the sports tradition can enrich the Olympic Education programs. The special subject of the Session was "How can sporting tradition of different cultures enrich Olympic Education". During his speech to the participants and the lecturers of the Session, the IOA President, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, thanked them for their presence at this important event at the birthplace of Olympism and for their active participation while he declared the closing of the works of the session. The President underlined, among others: “It is very hopeful to ascertain that all the things that contributed during the ancient times to the creation of the Olympic philosophy, meaning a series of elements that define a specific way of life and contain all the noble ideas like peace, noble emulation, respect for the others, excellence, perfection, tolerance, meet in every form of development of sport competitiveness even in sports with a limited number of athletes or not well known to the public. This alone makes us believe that the Olympic Values, since they are not present only within the context of the known Olympic actions but, on the contrary, they are interspersed, having equal importance, in every form of sport action, it is easier for them to become subjects of a general educational possibility.” The next activity of the International Olympic Academy is the 3rd International Session for Olympic Medalists (21-27/6).
