The legacy of the 51st International Session for Young Participants
The 51st International Session for Young Participants of the International Olympic Academy that was hosted at the IOA premises in Ancient Olympia from the 27th of June to the 8th of July, was concluded leaving rich impressions, unique experiences and a great legacy that will be the base for the further development of the Olympic Movement. The IOA celebrated its 50 years of operation and welcomed for one more year young people from every corner of the world, bringing them close to the principles of the Olympic Movement, thus creating one more generation of ambassadors of the Academy and its important work. During the 51st International Session 170 participants and 18 coordinators from 95 countries of the world took part in the Session. The conclusions of the discussion groups that were formed by all the participants were impressive and showed their contemporary thoughts about the Olympic Movement and its social expansion. Finally, through the social nights that were organized by the IOA, the young participants exchanged forms of their culture while through the sporting activities they experienced the principles of the fair play and the cooperation in the historical space of Ancient Olympia. The participants left our country on Saturday (9/7), impressed by the Ancient Olympia and the IOA’s operation. During the session the following lectures were realised:

Mr Jean DURRY (FRA), Writter, Historian on Sport and Olympism, Member of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education, Founder of the National Museum of Sport of France, on the subject: "Coubertin: the Olympic Educator in itself" .
Prof. Dr Jurgen BUSCHMANN (GER), Executive Director of the Carl Diem Institute, Professor at the German Sport University in Cologne, on the subject: "Influences affecting the establishment of the International Olympic Academy (Carl & Liselott DIEM)".
Prof. Dr Kostas GEORGIADIS (GRE), IOA Honorary Dean, Vice Rector of the University of Peloponnese, Member of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education, Member of the Board of ISOH, on the subject: "50 year of International Olympic Academy".
Prof. Reinhard SENFF (GER), Scientific Director of the German Archaeological Institute, on the subject: "The archaeological excavations in Olympia and the Olympic Movement: recent research and questions of interaction".
