The main topic of this bi-annual Session is O lympism and at each Session, a special subtopic is discussed. This Session aims to provide a forum for senior members of staff of higher educational insti tutes and educators, to explore Olympic issues and practi ces. The educational aspects of Olympism and the Olympic Movement are examined as is the hu ma nistic and cultural significance of sport and its contri bution to modern society. Practical and cultu rally relevant teaching methods are sought and discus sed in order to promote healthy sport practi ces and Olympic Ideals, among the youth of the world.

Participation
• Higher Institutes of Physical Education may register one (1) representative
• National Olympic Committees and National Olympic Academies may register two (2) educators The working languages of the Session are English, French and Greek.

Short Papers or Presentations
Participants are invited to send to the IOA, prior to the Session, short papers, posters and presentations on themes related to the special topic of the Session. Papers should be submitted in any of the three official IOA languages. The Ephoria of the IOA will select the reports to be presented during the Session.

Special Subjects of the International Session for Educators and Officials of Higher Institutes of Physical Education

Up until the year 1990, separate Sessions were held for Educators and for Directors and Heads of Higher Institutes of Physical Education. As from 1993, the Sessions have been held jointly.

International Sessions for Educationists (1973-1990)

• Methods of teaching the Olympic Idea in schools.
• The contribution of Olympic Education to Gener¬al Education.
• The role of Olympic Education in the education of youth.

International Sessions for Directors and Heads of Higher Institutes of Physical Education (1986-1990)

• Olympism in the curriculum of the Higher Institu ¬tes of Physical Education.
• Olympism as an independent subject in the cur ¬ricula of the Higher Institutes of Physical Edu -cation.
• a) Introduction of Olympism as a main subject in the curricula of the Institutes.
   b) Educational Methodology of Olympism as a main subject in the curricula of the Institutes.
