The 49th Session for Young Participants of the International Olympic Academy that ended after 12 days in Ancient Olympia was characterized by the high level of works and speeches of the participants as well as by their creative activity. The Session was attended by 173 young participants coming from 96 countries worldwide and its special subject for this year was: “The Olympic Games as a celebration: Evaluation of the Olympic Games of Beijing and the Course towards the Olympic Games of Vancouver”.
 
At the end of the Session, all the Young Participants concluded that, what they achieved in Ancient Olympia was a unique common experience through the educational and cultural activities offered by the IOA.


 “After 12 days in Greece and the International Olympic Academy our joint journey that started with the opening ceremony at the hill of Pnyx came to an end. I cannot deny that I am deeply moved as for the first time, as IOA President, I had the honor to be with so many young people from all over the world and to be a student myself to the different culture of life that this wonderful area offers”, said the IOA President, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, addressing the young participants during the closing ceremony of the 49th Session in Ancient Olympia.


The following IOA activities which will take place in the premises of Ancient Olympia during the month of July are: the 2nd International Session for Olympic Medalists (14-20/07) and the 17th International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate students, from the 1st until the 30th of July.
