One more important event for Olympism and the Sport Ideal will be hosted from the 14th to the 20th of July at the cradle of Olympism, the International Olympic Academy premises in Ancient Olympia.

It’s the 2nd International Session for Olympic Medallists, with 51 participants from 26 countries. Its basic subject will be “Olympism” and its special subject “The social and professional life of athletes during and after elite competition”.
The arrival of guests, lecturers and participants of the International Session for Olympic Medallists in Athens is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday 14/7). The following morning (15/7), they will depart for Ancient Olympia where at 17h30 the opening ceremony of the works of the 2nd International Session for Olympic Medallists will take place at the main lecture hall “D. Vikelas” with an address by the IOA President, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS.

The IOA Honorary Dean, Prof. Dr Kostas GEORGIADIS, will present the guests, lecturers and participants of the 2nd International Session for Olympic Medallists. Following, he will brief them on administrative matters, the organisation of the workshops, the sport and cultural activities.

The program of the 2nd International Session for Olympic Medallists includes lectures by Dr Kostas GEORGIADIS (GRE), Professor of the University of Peloponnese, Dr Manfred LÄMMER(GER), professor of the German Sport University of Cologne , Mr Richard FOSBURY (USA), President of the World Olympians Association, Ms Sophia MPEKATOROU (GRE), Olympic Medallist in the Athens 2004 and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in Sailing, Ms Guin BATTEN (GBR), Olympic Medallist in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in Rowing.

The closing of the works of the 2nd International Session for Olympic Medallists is scheduled for Saturday 18th of July and the departures of lecturers, guests and participants from Athens for the 20th of July.
