The main goals of the new ICMG Secretary General, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, are the upgrade of the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games at an international level during the four year period of 2009-2013 and the support of the best possible preparation for an impeccable organization for the Mediterranean Games of 2013 by Volos and Larissa.

The President of the International Olympic Academy, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, was elected unanimously Secretary General of the ICMG Executive Committee by all the Mediterranean National Olympic Committees. The elections took place during the ICMG General Assembly Meeting on the 24th of June 2009, in Pescara, Italy, before the opening of the 16th Mediterranean Games.

“My election to this position is a huge responsibility for me at a crucial moment for the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games and for Greece, since with my dual role I have to monitor the progress of works in Volos and in Larissa and to support the best possible preparation for the impeccable hosting of the upcoming Mediterranean Games in these Greek cities, exactly as we promised in the bid file that we deposited in order to undertake the Games”, declared Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, President of the International Olympic Academy, when he was unanimously elected.
