The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee Youth Forum 2009, which operates under the auspices of the IOC, commences on Saturday (19/9) in the premises of Ancient Olympia. The Forum aims to spread the pedagogical ideas of Baron Pierre de Coubertin all over the world through educational and sports’ programs that are organized every two years in different countries.

This year’s Youth Forum, following the IOA President’s, Mr Isidoros KOUVELOS, initiative in cooperation with his counterpart of the Pierre de Coubertin Committee, Mr Norbert MÜLLER, is hosted in the cradle of Sports.

140 students will participate (together with 20 attendants and 3 representatives from the Pierre de Coubertin Committee) in Ancient Olympia’s Youth Forum. Amongst the participants are Greek students from the lyceums of Pallini (Attiki) and Pyrgos (Ilia).

The Meeting, that will be concluded on September 25th and 26th in Pallini, following an invitation by Pallini’s Mayor, Mr Spyros KOSTANTAS and the principal of the B’ Lyceum of the area, Mr Anastasios MPOUNTOUVAS, includes mind and sport games. The students-athletes who will achieve good performances in both fields will be rewarded.
