Young people from different countries of our planet, with different institutions, languages, mentalities, manners and customs, will meet this year, like every year, at the premises of Ancient Olympia having as common bond the Olympism, its values and its symbols.

At the cradle of Olympism, from the 16th to the 30th of June, the International Olympic Academy will host the 50th International Session for Young Participants. The basic subject of the Session’s works will be “Olympism” and the special subject “The Olympic Movement as a platform for Peace”.

The participants, the lecturers and the coordinators of the discussion groups, who will come from every corner of the world, will be over 210. Their arrival in Athens is set for next Wednesday, the 16th of June.

Next Thursday, 17th of June, at 19:30, the annual special ceremony at the sacred Hill of Pnyx will mark, like every year, the opening of the 50th International Session for Young Participants of the International Olympic Academy. From the 18th of June onwards the premises of Ancient Olympia will be filled with life, hosting up to the 28th of June the works of the Session.

The lectures of the 50th International Session for Young Participants will be:
-    HRH Prince Faisal bin AL-HUSSEIN (JOR), President of the National Olympic Committee of Jordan.
-    Mr Wilfried LEMKE (GER), Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace
-    Mr Joël BOUZOU (FRA), President and Founder Peace and Sport, L’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport
-    Mr Pere MIRÓ (ESP), Director, IOC Olympic Solidarity
-    Mr Peter TALLBERG (FIN), IOC Member
-    Prof. Marion KEIM LEES (RSA), Director, Interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence for Sport Science and Development, University of Western Cape
-    Prof. Dr Werner PETERMANDL (AUT), Professor at the  Archeological Institute of the University of Graz
-    Dr Denis  KRUZHKOV (RUS), Vice-President of the South Russian Olympic Academy, Associate Professor of the Kuban State Physical Education, Sports and Tourism University, Krasnodar
-    Dr Sock Miang TEO KOH (SIN), Director of the National Olympic Academy of Singapore
-    Prof. Stelios PERRAKIS (GRE), Professor of International Law at the Panteion University of Athens
-    Prof. Dionyssis GANGAS (GRE), IOA Director, Honorary Professor of Humanitarian Law at the Panteion University of Athens
