Created in 1993, the Academy, which is chaired since the year 2001 by Professor Cle'ment Anicet Guiyama-Massogo, consists of seven (7) members including one woman. The Academy deals primarily with the diffusion and the propagation of the Olympic ideals in their country. This has led to the organization of six (6) national sessions so far regarding various topics and two (2) Olympic animation campaigns in the country. Moreover, the Academy takes part in almost all the demonstrations envisaged by the cultural commission of the IOC and the IOA. In particular, it participates in the International Sessions of the latter where the current President just like his predecessor had the honour to be invited as a lecturer. The current President of their NOA has also profited from a series of studies in the Centre of Olympic Studies in Lausanne and, at present, he carries out a project of rehabilitation of the traditional sport practices and their significance regarding their integration in a teaching pedagogy adapted to African actualities, a project that is financed by the Olympic Solidarity. The Academy also publishes the reports of the annual sessions. However, the people involved in the dissemination of Olympic values encounter enormous difficulties related to the lack of premises for their Academy, as well as lack of a library and a museum, difficulties of which they hope to surmount in the short term. On the whole, they wish to develop collaboration with all the NOAs of the world and exchange experiences.
