The annual ceremony at the Pnyx Hill, tomorrow (Thursday) 17 June, 19.30, marked the beginning of the 50th Session for Young Participants, whose heart will beat for about two weeks (until 29 months) in the cradle of Olympics, Ancient Olympia, the same place for decades welcomed with the same love the new blood of the Olympic Movement.

The opening ceremony of the 50th Session of the International Olympic Academy, which coincides with the celebration of 49 years of operation since its inception and this year is a key issue in the process of 'Olympism' and special: "The Olympic Movement as a Platform for Peace , honors the past, but also emits a look at the future, the pace of the new millennium.

And such a step was the establishment of the International Graduate Program of the IOA from last year which was launched at the Academy, with the sponsorship of the "Latsis Foundation in collaboration with the University Peloponnisos.

Tomorrow's ceremony at the sacred site of the Pnyx Hill will be honored by the presence of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Paul GEROULANOS the President of the Greek Olympic Committee, Mr Spyros KAPRALOS, the Director General of the Latsis Group and State in Greece Executive Council of the Public Benefit Foundation "John S. Latsis, Evangelos HRONIS, the Secretary of the Executive Council of the Public Benefit Foundation" John S. Latsis, Dimitris AFENTOULIS, a member of the IOC, R . Co. and the IOA, Mr Lambis Nikolaou, AAthinas MP and former Minister, Mrs. Dora Bakoyannis, the President of Special Olympics, Gianna Despotopoulou, President of the Greek Para-Olympic Committee, Mr. Panagiotis STAMATOPOULOS the President of the International Weightlifting Federation and member of the IOC, Mr. Tamas AJAN, the Olympic champion, IOC member, Mr. Irena SZEWINSKA, Ms Royal Govostis by Directorate Relations of Commercial Bank, many other official and of course participants, speakers and moderators of discussion groups from around the world, whose number exceeds 210.


The ceremony will be read message from IOC President, Dr. Jacques ROGGE, Speeches will address the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Paul GEROULANOS, the Chairman of HOC, Spyros KAPRALOS, the IOA President, General Secretary of D.E.M . D., President of ETHN.O.A. and Board Member International Olympic Truce, and the Commission for Culture and Olympic Education ILO, Mr. Isidore KOUVELOS and by the speaker of the session, Dr. Sock Miang TEO-KOH from Singapore.

Awards will be awarded to Mr. George Andreadis, Freddie SERPIERI, John Theodorakopoulos («Olympic Order»), the Polish by Irena SZEWINSKA («Vergina), the British Sir Philip CRAVEN (« Delphi), the Hungarian Dr Tamas AJAN (Athena) and the Bulgarian Olympic champion, Mr. Stefka KOSTADINOVA («Knossos).

Missions Youth participants of the 50th International Session of the IOA will depart for its plant in Olympia 8.00to am Friday, June 18 and afternoon (18:00) that day is scheduled inauguration ceremony at the Auditorium "D. Vikelas' Conference Centre.
