Emilio FernándezPeña is Communication Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB)and head of its Olympic Studies Centre since December since 2009. He is thefounder director of the Sport Research Institute UABwhich joins 40 senior researchers from 12 different departments. This Instituteanalyses sport with a strong multidisciplinary and interdisciplinaryapproach. Emilio is doctor in Communication by the Basque CountryUniversity with Outstanding Award (2001). He is the creator and teacher of theMassive Online Course (MOOC) The Olympic Games and the Media whichwas launched in 2014 on Coursera and it has had more than 8,000 enrolledstudents since its creation. Dr. Fernández Peña has been the promoter and maindesigner of the new degree on Interactive Communication in the UAB, which isoriented to train the students with a holistic vision of technology, allocatedin the intersection between engineering, communication, and liberal arts.Professor Fernández is a founder member of the Scientific Committee of theInternational Olympic Academy and Co-Editor of the Journal Diagoras: AcademicJournal on Olympic Studies. He was in charge of the design of a part of thepermanent exhibition on Television of the Olympic Musseum of the IOC inLaussanne (2013).

LeDr Fernández Peña a été le promoteur et le principal concepteur du nouveaudiplôme en Communication Interactive de l'UAB, qui vise à former les étudiantsavec une vision holistique de la technologie, située à l'intersection del'ingénierie, de la communication et des arts libéraux. Le professeur Fernándezest membre fondateur du comité scientifique de l'Académie Ιnternationale Οlympique et co-éditeur de la revueDiagoras : revue académique d'études olympiques. Il a été chargé de laconception d'une partie de l'exposition permanente sur la Télévision du MuséeOlympique du CIO à Lausanne (2013).
