Isidoros Kouvelos is the new President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee following the completion of the electoral process.
Mr Kouvelos succeeds Mr Spyros Capralos, who held the position for 16 years, securing 21 votes against 13 of his opponent, Spyros Capralos.
In his first statements, Isidoros Kouvelos emphasized:
“My experience in the HOC, first as Vice President and then as President of the International Olympic Academy, where globally recognized work was accomplished, fills me with responsibility for the future. The key areas of the HOC—Olympic preparation, Olympic Education, the Olympic Torch Relay, and the IOA—are crucial. The IOA, as a mirror of the Olympic Movement, promotes the Values of Olympism, knowledge, respect, and diversity. The competition must always be fair and clean.
I want to sincerely thank our Olympians, who believed in my vision and supported this effort with integrity. I also approached all federations, even those thatdid not support me. I did not just ask for their votes, but for their cooperation so that we can face challenges together.
I would like to honor Spyros Capralos for his great contribution. As President of the European Olympic Committees, IOC Member , and a candidate for significant international positions, his presence remains vital for Greek sports. Spyros, we thank you and need your wisdom and support.”

Ο Ισίδωρος Κούβελος νέος Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής
Ο Ισίδωρος Κούβελος είναι ο νέος Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής μετά την ολοκλήρωση της εκλογικής διαδικασίας.
Ο κ. Κούβελος διαδέχεται τον κ. Σπύρο Καπράλο που κατείχε τη θέση για 16 χρόνια, λαμβάνοντας 21 ψήφους έναντι 13 του αντιπάλου του.
Στις πρώτες του δηλώσεις επισήμανε: «Η εμπειρία μου στην ΕΟΕ, πρώτα ως Αντιπρόεδρος και στη συνέχεια ως Πρόεδρος της Διεθνούς Ολυμπιακής Ακαδημίας (ΔΟΑ), όπου έγινε ένα έργο παγκόσμιας αναγνώρισης, με γεμίζει ευθύνη για το μέλλον. Οι τομείς δράσης της ΕΟΕ – η Ολυμπιακή προετοιμασία, η Ολυμπιακή Παιδεία, η Ολυμπιακή Λαμπαδηδρομία και η ΔΟΑ – είναι κρίσιμοι. Η ΔΟΑ, ως καθρέφτης του Ολυμπιακού Κινήματος, προάγει τις αξίες του Ολυμπισμού, τη γνώση, τον σεβασμό και τη διαφορετικότητα. Ο αγώνας πρέπει να είναι πάντα τίμιος και καθαρός.
Θέλω να ευχαριστήσω από καρδιάς τους Ολυμπιονίκες μας, που πίστεψαν στο όραμά μου και στήριξαν την προσπάθεια αυτή με έντιμο αγώνα. Επίσης, μίλησα με όλες τις ομοσπονδίες, ακόμα και με όσες δεν ήταν θετικά διακείμενες προς εμένα. Δεν ζήτησα απλώς την ψήφο τους, αλλά τη συνεργασία τους, ώστε να αντιμετωπίσουμε μαζί τις προκλήσεις.
Θα ήθελα να τιμήσω τον Σπύρο Καπράλο για τη μεγάλη του συμβολή. Ως Πρόεδρος των Ευρωπαϊκών Επιτροπών, Μέλος της ΔΟΕ και διεκδικητής σημαντικών διεθνών θέσεων, η παρουσία του παραμένει καθοριστική για τον ελληνικό αθλητισμό. Σπύρο, σε ευχαριστούμε και χρειαζόμαστε τη σοφία και τη στήριξή σου.»
